Why PTA Speaks Up

Speaking up for kids is one of the main reasons PTA exists. It's right there in our mission: to make every child's potential a reality by engaging and empowering families and communities to advocate for all children.

At Rooster Springs, we do that with the DSISD Council of PTAs and Texas PTA. We share what's happening, help families find their voice, and show up for public education. PTA takes stands on issues, never on candidates or parties.

Big Dates This Year

Rally Day, in a Nutshell

Rally Day only happens every other year, when lawmakers are in session. You walk the Capitol with hundreds of other PTA members. You learn how a bill moves. And you get to tell lawmakers, face to face, what our schools need.

You don't need to be an expert. Most people come for the first time with no idea what to expect, and they leave glad they went. Students who attend with a parent can get an excused absence.

What Texas PTA Is Working On

Texas PTA is setting its priorities for the 2027 session now. Member surveys help shape them, so thank you to everyone who filled one out in September. We'll post the new list here once it's out.

Last session, the lead priorities were school funding, teacher and staff shortages, school safety, a fairer accountability system, and keeping public dollars in public schools.
