Hands-on science, technology, engineering, art, and math projects, brought into every classroom four times a year by parent volunteers.

STEAM Appreciation gives every Rooster a chance to build, make, and create something with their own hands. Each session is one project, done right in the classroom with a parent volunteer leading the way. In September, students made harmonicas out of craft sticks and then played them.

How a session works

Step 1

Our STEAM chair picks a project and the PTA buys every supply.

Step 2

Teachers get a short how-to video to show the class on screen.

Step 3

Parent volunteers come in and lead the project with the kids.

Step 4

Volunteers tidy up, and leftover supplies go back to the PTA closet for next time.

Dates come from the campus calendar and can shift. The PTA calendar always has the latest.

Help lead a session

You don't need to be crafty or a science whiz. We give you the supplies, the steps, and a quick rundown before you head into the classroom. It's a fun way to see your Rooster's class in action.

Time slots go up on Volunteer Opportunities about two weeks before each session.

Before you sign up: make sure your PTA account and directory are up to date, and that you've done the DSISD background check. You need both to volunteer on campus.
